How to Declutter Your Business for 2018

This time of year is great for drinking hot cocoa, relaxing with family + friends, and enjoying the holidays. But it’s also a great time of year to reflect on what you can declutter from your life — specifically when it comes to your business.

There’s nothing worse than starting the new year on January 1st and realizing you’re overwhelmed by everything that’s going on in your business. Your shiny new year starts to look a lot like the old one you just left behind when you’re still holding on to the same stuff that held you back in 2017.

Here are a few things you can declutter now to get ready to start the new year with a clean slate.

Declutter your email list

Are you carrying dead weight subscribers? You know the ones — they never open, click, or buy anything. It’s time to give them the boot. Scrub your list of these subscribers now to make room for all the new ones you’ll welcome in 2018.

Declutter your Facebook feed

Are you in a million Facebook groups? Now’s a great time to look through and decide which ones you want to stay in. Find the groups add value to your business and you enjoy spending time in. If there’s a dead group or one that’s super spammy and annoying, get out of there. You’ll start the year ready to connect with the communities you’re excited to be a part of.

Declutter your freebies

If you’ve been in business awhile, chances are you’ve created multiple freebies to grow your email list. Do they all reflect the direction you’re going in 2018? Go through your current opt-in offers and see if there are any that need updates or edits. Use this time to clear out the old, irrelevant freebies and make a plan to push your current ones.

Declutter your business spending

Cut out unnecessary expenses before you get charged for one more month. Start by looking at any membership sites and recurring subscriptions that you signed up for this year. Are you still using them? If not, it’s time to cancel. If you think it’s something you might want to use in the future, you can always join again.

Declutter your workspace

Get set up for a productive new year by cleaning your workspace. This means tidying your physical desktop and organizing your computer desktop. You can also spend some time clearing out old emails and getting to inbox zero. To manage the future flow of emails, unsubscribe from lists you don’t read or sign up for Unroll.Me to get fewer emails each day.

Once you declutter your business life, you’ll be all set to ring in the new year with a fresh start. Cheers to starting 2018 off right!
