4 Email Marketing Tweaks to Boost Your Click-Through Rate

4 Email Marketing Tweaks to Boost Your Click-Through Rate.png

You have people going through your sales funnel, they’re opening your emails, but they're not clicking over to your sales page. How do you fix it? Today I'm sharing 4 ways you can boost your email click through rates and get more of your subscribers landing on your sales page.

One Call to Action Per Email

You want to make sure that you're focusing on just one call to action per email. In a sales email, the only link should be to your sales page. If that's where you want subscribers to go after they read your email. You want to make sure you're leading them there and not giving them a lot of distractions that could put them off their path on the way.

That means you should go through your emails and make sure you're minimizing those distractions. Eliminate extra links to your website. Eliminate links to your social media. You want the only outgoing links in that email to be to your sales page. If that is the main action you want them to take that needs to be the only option that you give people when they're reading that email. That will help you get more people reading the email over to the sales page instead of off on some other tangent.

Use Stories to Hook Your Reader

The second thing you can do with your emails is to hook people in with a story. If you want people reading through emails instead of skimming through and clicking off, give them something compelling to read. Pull them in with a great story that naturally leads into your offer.

You want to avoid putting a bunch of fluff copy at the top of your email, you know, the kind of copy that people just tune out on or they skim through. You want to hook them in from the beginning. Start your email in the middle of the action and give people a reason to keep reading.

Stories are always a great way to connect with your audience and they're also key for writing emails that people actually want to read all the way through.

Include a P.S.

My third tip is to include a P.S. in your email. Because even with a story, there will be some people that skim through and skip to the end. A P.S. is an extra place to catch people's eye and reiterate your main call to action. If your emails don't have a P.S., think about adding one!

Double Check Your Links

Another tip for increasing your click-throughs is to make sure your links are obvious. Go through the emails and look at them on your desktop and on mobile and just see what they look like to a reader.

Are the links easy to find? Does the link text stand out from the rest of your copy? If you're hiding a one or two word anchor link in the middle of a big paragraph, people that are just casually scanning through could easily miss that.

Use some formatting here to make those links really stand out. You can use bolding, spacing - make it a whole line on its own. You could even use capitalization — do it in all caps so that people can't miss it.

And of course, you can use multiple links — as long as they are all pointing to the same place. One call to action doesn't mean just one link. You can include several links throughout the email as long as they all drive to your sales page. Make it easy for the people that want to buy from you to find your links and click through.

If you're not getting people clicking through emails over to your sales page, try out these tips and let me know how it goes. And if you're looking for a copywriter who can help with this kind of stuff, definitely reach out.
